Through his work at Expedition, Fred is exploring the application of generative and multi-objective optimisation approaches to design. He has recently completed the design of a honeycomb canopy roof for a new underground station in Naples. The arrangement of the honeycomb mesh has been optimised using a genetic algorithm for a range of criteria including sunlight and structural performance.
He is also currently doing an MSc in Adaptive Architecture and Computation at the Bartlett, with key modules in Environmental Design.
